Department of Sculpture

The department is engaged in producing potential sculptors under its degree programs. The study includes handling of various mediums like Clay, Plaster, Terracotta, Metal, Wood and Stone Carving, Scrap Metal and Modern Media etc. The students also study History of Sculpture, History of Indian & Western Art and Aesthetics. Moreover, they are encouraged to explore the expanding areas of sculpture including traditional and contemporary approaches, addressing form, space and time as well as new media. The department also provides with abundant opportunities for experimentation. Courses of studies in sculpture have been planned with emphasis on creative expression as well as practical/technical aspects of the students’ development. The faculty members take good care to groom their students more effectively by establishing close student - teacher contact.
